About

Picture of me.

My name is Taylor Graboski and I have been working with clay for almost 6 years now. My interest started in high school in my first art class. One of the projects was clay-based, and since then it has been my favorite art medium. Over the years I have learned how diverse this material is. Your options are not only limited to making pottery on the wheel or hand-building. Throughout my college experience, I have taken classes with my professor, Megumi Naitoh. I was lucky enough for her to ask me to be her research assistant. She has helped me explore the different areas that clay can take you. With her help I was able to design a form in Blendr, and 3D print it with clay on her ceramic 3D printer she built herself. She has also taught me plaster mold making, and how to make very complicated multiple part molds.

The images above include processes of slip casting, hand-throwing, and hand-building with exterior treatments of screen printing, shellac, and wax resist.
